Homestyle Bake is a proud family-owned business with over 30 years’ experience in food manufacturing. Operating from our large-scale bakery in Toowoomba, we supply fresh, high-quality baked goods to more than 2,000 customers every day.

The Opportunity

With production volumes continuing to increase, we are expanding our maintenance team and are seeking experienced tradespeople who are comfortable in a fast‑paced, hands‑on role.

We are looking for trade-qualified Maintenance Fitters to join us on a permanent full-time basis. This role is critical to keeping production running reliably and safely in a busy food manufacturing environment. The work is practical, on the tools, and well suited to fitters who take pride in keeping equipment operating and downtime to a minimum.

This is a largely autonomous role, where you’ll be trusted to fault-find, prioritise jobs, and respond to breakdowns while working closely with production and operations teams. As volumes continue to ramp up, maintenance plays a key role in supporting output across the site.

Food manufacturing experience is highly regarded but not essential for fitters with strong industrial maintenance backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out breakdown, preventative, and corrective maintenance on bakery plant and machinery
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults in a high-volume production environment
• Support installation, commissioning, and improvement of new and existing equipment
• Work autonomously to manage workload and respond to operational priorities
• Ensure compliance with workplace health & safety, food safety, and QA requirements
• Accurately complete maintenance records and communicate with key stakeholders
• Work across a rotating 24/7 roster, including shift work and weekends

What We’re Looking For

• Trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter (Cert III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent)
• Solid hands-on experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
• Food or FMCG manufacturing experience desirable but not essential
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced operation
• Welding and/or machining skills advantageous
• Reliable, safety-focused, and adaptable to changing production demands
• Willing to work rotating morning, afternoon, and night shifts, including:
• Approximately one weekend per month
