About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced SMP Engineer to join our team on a remote project site, supporting the planning, coordination and execution of construction activities.

This is a genuinely hands-on engineering role. You won’t be office-bound, you’ll be out on the ground verifying installations, working through technical challenges with supervisors and subcontractors, and translating what’s actually been built back into accurate, defensible documentation. If you enjoy the satisfaction of walking a site, catching an issue before it becomes a problem, and turning as-built works into a clean, compliant record, this role is built for you.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll be a key technical point of contact on-site, ensuring SMP works meet quality, safety and design requirements from first principles through to handover.

FIFO from Brisbane or Perth, with roster options of 2:2 or 2:1 to suit your lifestyle. Competitive hourly rate plus site allowance, with flights and accommodation included.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing technical guidance on SMP construction activities, ensuring compliance with specifications and engineering standards
• Reading, interpreting and clarifying technical drawings, P&IDs and isometrics for the project team
• Conducting quality inspections of SMP works, identifying deficiencies and driving timely rectification
• Preparing and maintaining redline mark-ups reflecting exactly how the works were built, supporting accurate as-built documentation
• Supporting fabrication, installation, erection, alignment and testing activities across structural, mechanical and piping scopes
• Assisting with material coordination, verifying quality and alignment with project requirements
• Working closely with SMP Supervisors and site personnel to resolve technical challenges and keep work fronts moving
• Promoting adherence to safety protocols and participating in site safety inspections
• Tracking and reporting progress on SMP activities, flagging delays early and proposing practical solutions

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Structural or Civil disciplines
• Prior FIFO experience, and genuine comfort working on the ground, not just at a desk
• Strong technical knowledge of structural steel, mechanical equipment and piping systems
• Experience conducting quality inspections and preparing redline/as-built drawings
• Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card) and current C class driver’s licence
• Engineering experience within construction or mining industries
• Strong communication skills, confident liaising with supervisors, subcontractors, designers and inspectors
