Senior Mining Supervisors / Open Cut Examiners

New Acland Coal (NAC) is expanding, and we’re looking for 2 x Senior Mining Supervisors / Open Cut Examiners (OCEs).

NAC is a thin seam open cut mining operation that is owned and managed by New Hope Group. NAC is based 35km north-west of Toowoomba.

About the roles:

Working a 7/7 day / night rotating roster and reporting to the Production Superintendent, these roles will lead production supervisors and crews to safely achieve production targets while fulfilling their OCE statutory obligations. The roles will focus on fostering a high-performance safety culture that priorities risk awareness, proactive risk management and operational excellence.

What you will do:

• Execute statutory OCE functions to ensure the highest safety, environmental and operational work practices are maintained
• Lead, guide and mentor Supervisors and operational crews promoting proactive risk management and safe, efficient operations
• Oversee all aspects of people management, including performance, conduct, attendance and employee relations matters
• Drive the execution of the daily, weekly, and annual operating plans with a focus on plan compliance and efficiency
• Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and the implementation of corrective actions
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance
• Work closely with stakeholders outside of the Production team to maximise outputs

To be considered for these opportunities, you will have:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an OCE / Mine Supervisor
• A current Queensland Open Cut Examiner practising certificate
• Coal Mining Competencies RIIRIS301E, RIIWHS301E, RIICOM301E & RIIRIS402E
• Extensive leadership experience leading mining teams to safely achieve production targets
• Experience supporting incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
• Demonstrated high-level judgement, decision-making and problem-solving skills, as well as a professional level of written and oral communication skills
• The ability to respectfully challenge the status quo and drive performance
