The Opportunity
Due to continued growth in Mackay, we’re looking for an experienced Operations Manager to help establish and grow our local presence. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys autonomy, builds strong relationships, and stays calm in time-critical situations.
This position is fully remote and based in Mackay, supported by our Head Office team in Perth. Shipping is a 24/7 industry, so the role includes after-hours and weekend work, managed through a roster to support work/life balance.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate vessel operations from arrival planning through to departure
- Arrange and manage husbandry services
- Liaise with clients, government authorities, port authorities and service providers
- Prepare, check and dispatch shipping documentation accurately and on time
- Maintain operational records, data entry and systems updates
- Attend vessels in port and manage Master’s requirements
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
- Deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced environment
What We’re Looking For
Essential requirements
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in vessel operations, ship agency or maritime operations
- Strong knowledge of port regulations, restrictions, tariffs and compliance requirements
- Proven capability preparing shipping documentation
- Current driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain an MSIC
- Ability to pass medical, drug and alcohol testing
- Strong computer literacy and confidence using operational systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and organisation
- Willingness to work outside standard hours (including weekends) as required
