Mechanical Fitter

About the role

FGI Mining is seeking qualified Mechanical Fitters for a site-based position in Northwest Queensland. The role will be responsible for carrying out maintenance tasks and mechanical functions safely and efficiently, supporting the reliability and ongoing operation of mining equipment and fixed plant.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical maintenance tasks safely and efficiently
• Perform maintenance, repairs and servicing of fixed plant and equipment
• Identify and report mechanical faults and maintenance requirements
• Assist with planned and preventative maintenance activities
• Follow site safety procedures, maintenance standards and work instructions
• Work collaboratively with FGI staff, contractors and other maintenance personnel
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship and housekeeping

What we’re looking for

• Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter
• Previous experience working with mine-site fixed plant
• Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills
• Commitment to safe work practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work within FGI’s company culture and the broader FGI Mining group
