Griffin Marine is growing and we’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our Darwin team.
Griffin Marine is a leading marine service provider specialising in multi-disciplinary industrial services and project management. We service a diverse range of clients, including prime defence contractors and commercial shipping companies. With a focus on proactive and professional support, we are committed to delivering high-quality and trustworthy service.
What You Will Be Doing
You will play an important role in keeping marine vessels operating safely and efficiently, including:
- Fitting, assembling and installing mechanical components, piping and equipment on marine vessels
- Fault-finding, repairing and maintaining engines, pumps, valves and propulsion systems
- Working from technical drawings, manuals and engineering specifications
- Carrying out preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs
- Working closely with engineers, welders and other trades as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and workmanship
- Helping deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard
What You Will Bring
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their trade, enjoys variety and isn’t afraid to get stuck in.
You will ideally have:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a marine, welding, fabrication or similar industrial environment
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- A good eye for detail and pride in your workmanship
- A strong work ethic and commitment to safety
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Qualifications & Requirements
- Trade Certificate in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Machining) or equivalent
- Current Construction White Card
- Valid C-Class Driver’s Licence
- Ability to obtain or hold a valid National Police Clearance
- Confined Space, Working at Heights or other relevant tickets highly desirable
