Our HSE Operations Manager will oversee all site based HSE requirements via the onsite HSE Advisors, ensuring all construction, commissioning & energisation works adhere to ACLE’s HSE Management System, project contract, and relevant State and Federal WHS requirements. This role is critical in managing the HSE resources required for the on-site safety of all ACLE employees and Subcontractors in line with ACLE’s FSC & ISO accreditation. Interstate travel and visits to ACLE project sites are a requirement of this role, however you will be based in Camberwell – Head Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation and ensure all sites have implemented ACLE safety processes identified by the HSE “Start New Project” process in IMS for ACLE employees, Contractors, Clients and Visitors
  • Management and oversight of implementation the compliance of site-based SWMS, Risk Assessments, SWI’s, SOP’s and Permits and providing training on these where necessary.
  • Develop and implement HSE Calendar which aligns to site based fortnightly Toolbox Talks and collaborate with HSE team to gain insights and input from site staff.
  • Regular review of company incident and hazard reports and conducting auditing for quality of investigations and corrective actions and management plan by reporter.
  • Conducting on-site Senior Management monthly inspection as part of HSE KPI’s – reporting, providing corrective actions, monitoring progress through scheduled follow-up and providing coaching and to stakeholders where necessary.
  • Managing and scheduling required project construction phase and 6 monthly emergency evacuation drills.
  • Regularly attending projects/sites to review, assess and submit hazards. Providing reporting to HSE department Head for review.
  • Development of and review SWMS, SOP’s, SWI’s, Risk Assessments permits and manage implementation to the business.
  • Monitor, review and align site compliance reporting to legal and client obligations, providing advice to the leadership team and sites/projects on changes or emerging trends that could impact the successful delivery of work – align ACLE and client management plans.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and manage all site-based HSE audits for clients, authorities and third parties.
  • Management of HSE resource planning and providing coaching and mentoring to the HSE team.
  • Assist with implementation of ACLE business plan
  • Conducting regular site visits both Construction Projects and O&M to ensure compliance to ACLE systems regularly.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, attend relevant industry courses and events and maintain a strong professional network.

What will you bring to this role?

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a HSE leadership role.
  • Experience working across a national business within engineering, heavy industry, industrial shutdowns, manufacturing, construction, and/or utilities infrastructure is desirable.
  • Diploma in HSE as a minimum requirement
  • Strong understanding of ISO9001, ISO 14001 – OHSAS 18001– and Federal Safety Commissioner (FSC) requirements.
  • Solid Influencing skills and the ability to achieve outcomes in an environment of managing complex stakeholder relationships, including key business partners
  • Construction White Card.
  • Exceptional knowledge of safety protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with a demonstrated ability to discuss a wide range of issues to engage people across all levels of the organisation, including senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor safety teams across complex project environments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to project management.
  • Familiarity with project management, Quality and Safety software and tools.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Diploma in HSE as a minimum requirement
