What's on offer?

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our growing Eastern Region Construction (ERC) team in Alexandria and contribute to the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing the design process on behalf of the constructor, ensuring design outcomes are optimised, aligned with delivery requirements, and meet client expectations.

Working closely with Project Directors, engineers and design partners, you will serve as the key interface between the construction and design teams, providing effective coordination and integration to support the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of projects.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Lead and manage the design process to ensure alignment with construction delivery objectives and client requirements
  • Managing and reviewing documentation associated with all deliverables and time based functions to ensure that scope, budgets and schedules are being met, and taking and/or directing corrective action if necessary
  • Act as the primary interface between design consultants, project teams, client and key stakeholders
  • Drive programme performance by ensuring design deliverables are achieved within required timeframes
  • Manage regulatory approvals and coordinate engagement with third-party stakeholders
  • Developing and delivering innovative technical solutions to resolve design-related issues and achieving stronger project outcomes
  • Support feasibility assessments, design planning and contract development activities
  • Supervising, training and motivating design project personnel to achieve project KPI’s and desired outcomes including support and development of the wider project team

What we’re looking for

We are seeking a highly capable Design Manager with demonstrated experience across complex infrastructure or civil construction projects, and a strong understanding of the integral role design plays in successful project delivery. The successful candidate will bring proven expertise in managing a broad range of stakeholders, balancing competing priorities, and providing clear leadership throughout the design lifecycle.

You will be recognised for your pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach and your ability to operate effectively in a dynamic project environment, where programme, cost and quality outcomes must be carefully managed in parallel. With a strong delivery focus, you will be skilled in identifying risks early, resolving issues efficiently, and ensuring project momentum is maintained.

Exceptional relationship management and communication skills will be essential, along with the ability to foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and align stakeholders towards common project objectives. You will take pride in delivering high-quality outcomes and making a meaningful contribution to overall project performance.

This represents an excellent opportunity to take on a key role with the ability to influence design outcomes, support delivery teams, and further progress your career within a high-performing construction business.

Join a team where your expertise will play an important role in shaping project delivery from concept through to completion.
