At Village National Group, we are looking for a Chef (days) / Camp Manager (dual role) to join our remote mobile camp teams, supporting Australia’s oil and gas projects.
This role is permanent full-time and provides a unique opportunity to work in solitude, with a fantastic work/life balance. Manage camp operations, the small hospitality team, and create a la carte style food for between 20-30 camp residents.

Being a Chef (days) / Camp Manager at VNG means you will be:
- Managing camp operations
- Hospitality team management of Night Chef and Camp Attendant
- Preparing and service of food as required
- On-site client and stakeholder management
- Planning the menu and prepare tasty, fresh and wholesome food – tailored to the needs and desires of our onsite client
- Assist the client in maintaining and driving a safe working culture
- Work to meet food-cost targets & other initiatives
- Take ownership of the wellbeing of your peers, customers and others in the camp
- Cook from scratch, not just from packets
- Management of camp maintenance
The Chef (days) / Camp Manager must possess attributes including:

- Ability to successfully work well in very remote environments in a reasonably autonomous capacity
To be considered you MUST have:
- Culinary Trade Qualifications with minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in remote camp/hospitality management (absolutely essential)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Cook/Chef
- Keen focus on Workplace Health and Safety Standards
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Current knowledge of Food Safety Standards
- A National Police Clearance (valid within 3 months, or be willing to obtain)
- Valid full Australian driver’s license
- Valid First Aid Certification (or be willing to obtain)
- PMASUP236 Valid Operate Vehicles in Field (4WD) Certification (minimum 6 months validity, or be willing to obtain*)
- All applicants will need to successfully complete a Pre-Employment Medical, including drug and alcohol testing (our mobile camps are “dry-sites”)
- Industry Safety Induction (or be willing to obtain*)
*Please note for the essential 4WD and ISI courses/certifications – VNG will cover the upfront costs, and this will be deducted from your first few pay cycles
