NEPEAN Longwall is a leading provider of specialised mining equipment and services to Australia’s underground coal industry. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Workshop Electrician to join our team based in Paget in Mackay QLD. 

This is a local, workshop-based role offering a 4-day compressed working week, providing genuine work–life balance while working on high-quality underground mining equipment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you will be responsible for carrying out both minor and major repairs on a variety of underground mining equipment and electrical components within the NEPEAN Longwall facility.

Key responsibilities include:

• Electrical assembly, overhaul, and fit-out of longwall and mining equipment
• Fault finding, diagnostics, function testing, and repairs
• Control and power wiring of electrical equipment
• Interpreting electrical schematics and scopes of work
• Maintenance of onsite fixed and mobile plant
• Testing, commissioning, and quality assurance of equipment
• Maintaining calibration of test equipment
• Ensuring all equipment, machinery, and tooling is kept in good working order
• Accurate document control and progress reporting
• Liaising with Project Coordinators to meet deadlines and priorities
• Work in accordance with Safe Work Instructions and WHS procedures
• Ensure all work complies with company systems, policies, and quality standards

About You

• Electrical Trade Certificate (essential)
• Current Electrical Licence (QLD or NSW depending on location)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role or leading hand capacity
• Forklift licence (required)
• Experience in workshop or heavy industrial environments
• Underground coal or mining equipment experience (highly regarded)
• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Reliable, team-oriented, and proactive approach
• Applicants must be living locally or be willing to relocate
