About the role

Join our 24-month traineeship program and work towards completing the RII30120 Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations as a Trainee - Dump Truck Operator at one of Macmahon's Surface West projects. As a trainee, you'll participate in Macmahon's industry-leading Trainee Dump Truck Academy, delivered through Macmahon Contractors RTO (52303) and supported by Western Australia's state government funding.

At the commencement of the program, you will gain foundational knowledge in dump truck operations and then apply what you have learnt in our Caterpillar Truck Simulator before transitioning to apply your learning on site.

As a part of the recruitment process, shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre Day on 06 August 2026. Successful candidates will commence in October 2026.

Role Details

• FIFO/DIDO from Perth to one of Macmahon's Surface Mine sites
• 2:1 day and night shift roster for the duration of the Traineeship
• Assessment Centre Day: 6 August 2026 - it is essential for invited candidates to attend to be eligible to proceed
• Additional testing will be required during the screening process prior to the Assessment Centre Day invitations being issued. Please monitor your emails for updates if you progress past initial screening.

• Learn to operate rigid haul trucks safely and efficiently
• Maintain a tidy work area and support safe interactions with all teams

What you’ll bring:

• Valid driver's license (Manual) - full unrestricted licence
• Full Australian working rights (Citizenship or Permanent Resident)
• Prior experience working 12hr shifts (Highly desirable)
• Previous mine site experience (Advantageous but not essential)
• Successful applicants must pass a full pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening, as well as criminal history and qualification checks
