Spectran Traffic Management is expanding into Launceston, and we are seeking highly skilled and motivated Traffic Controllers who want to play a key role in establishing and growing our northern operations.

Get your application to us by Monday 13th April & upon successful completion of a 3 month probation period we’ll pay you $500 as our way of saying thanks for joining our team.

Responsibilities

• Operate Stop/Slow bats, signage, and hand signals to safely direct traffic and pedestrians
• Complete site checks and monitor behavior and traffic flow to ensure safety is maintained at all times
• Direct and control traffic at intersections, construction sites, civil works and events
• Implement and follow traffic control plans, ensuring compliance with local regulations and safety standards
• Communicate clearly with drivers, pedestrians, clients, and co‑workers
• Monitor and adjust traffic control measures to maintain safety and minimise congestion
• Identify hazards and report safety concerns promptly
• Maintain accurate records of traffic control activities and equipment
• Work effectively with emergency services and other stakeholders when required
• Keep up to date with traffic control regulations, industry best practice, and new technologies

The ideal candidate

• Has the physical stamina to work on their feet and in varying weather conditions
• Is flexible and able to work days, nights, and weekends as required
• Possesses solid knowledge of traffic control standards and equipment
• Demonstrates strong communication skills and a proactive safety-first mindset
• Can apply risk management and problem‑solving skills on site
• Holds a manual driver’s license (desirable)
• Is confident using apps and digital tools on a smartphone or tablet

Qualifications

Required:

• RIISS00058 – Traffic Controller – Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads (TC1)
• RIISS00060 – Traffic Management Implementer – Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads (TMI1)

Preferred:

• RIISS00059 – Traffic Controller Skill Set for High Volume Roads (TC2)
• RIISS00061 – Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads (TMI2)

Other accepted credentials:

• Valid driver’s licence
• White Card (Construction)
• Pre‑2024 traffic qualifications (Control Traffic with Stop/Slow Bat & Implement Traffic Management Plan) will be considered
