About the Role
SAE Group is seeking a reliable and safety‑focused Trade Assistant to support the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery energy storage systems across residential and commercial sites. This hands‑on role involves assisting with rooftop and ground‑mounted solar and battery installations, general labouring duties, and working collaboratively within small installation crews.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of Solar PV systems on roofs battery energy storage systems or other structures in accordance with site assessments and schematics
- Measure, cut, assemble, and bolt structural framing and solar modules
- Operate and maintain small plant and equipment (including hand tools and power tools)
- Perform general labouring duties, including yard work and ground works on job sites
- Work efficiently and cooperatively as part of a small team
- Follow safe work practices and ensure public safety at all times
- Complete timesheets and relevant documentation accurately and on time
- Participate in training, skills assessments, and on‑the‑job learning
- Report incidents, accidents, and near misses within required timeframes
- Assist with stores, traffic control (where trained), and other duties as required
- Assist with site inductions for new team members or subcontractors.
Essential Requirements
- White Card (National WHS Construction Induction Training)
- Working at Heights certificate (RIIWHS204E)
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence
- Ability to work safely at heights and in outdoor environments
- Basic written, verbal, and numeracy skills, with the ability to accurately record information.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under limited supervision
- Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental practices
- Flexibility to work varied hours based on operational demands
- Willingness to travel and stay overnight outside metropolitan areas if required
- Customer‑focused approach with a positive attitude
- Basic knowledge of electrical safety procedures.
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour in demanding environmental conditions.
