About Armstrong Ceiling Solutions and the role

Armstrong Ceiling Solutions is an established and trusted provider of ceiling, wall and suspension system solutions across the Australian construction market. We support architects, designers, builders, contractors, and distributors across a broad range of commercial, education, healthcare, retail, transport and project environments. Our business is built on product reliability, technical capability, customer service, supplier partnerships and strong supply chain execution.

As our supplier network and national requirements continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Coordinator to support the movement of product across import, purchasing, freight-forwarder coordination, supplier follow-up, inventory visibility, and inbound order execution.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role sits at the centre of our national supply chain function. You will be responsible for ensuring that purchase orders, supplier updates, freight movements, delivery milestones, shipping information, and inventory visibility are accurate, current, and proactively managed.

You will work closely with international and local suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, distributors, and sales and customer-facing teams to ensure reliable stock availability and on-time delivery across Australia and New Zealand.

This is a hands-on coordination role suited to someone with strong operational experience in supply chain, purchasing, imports, freight, and inventory. The successful candidate will bring structure, urgency and ownership to a busy national environment, with the ability to follow through, challenge delays, maintain accurate system information and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.

Strong supply chain coordination at Armstrong requires commercial awareness, supplier accountability, freight visibility, inventory understanding and the ability to make moving parts clear across the business.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing international and local purchasing activities for warehouse replenishment, distributor orders, customer orders, and approved project requirements.
  • Raising, managing, and following up on purchase orders with approved suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers.
  • Monitoring supplier order confirmations, production readiness, product availability, dispatch timing, ETDs, ETAs, and delivery milestones.
  • Coordinating inbound imports into Australia, including supplier follow-up, freight forwarder communication, customs/documentation visibility, container tracking, and delivery updates.
  • Working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, vendors, manufacturers, and local fabricators to track order progress, resolve issues, and maintain accurate inbound supply visibility.
  • Maintaining accurate ERP data relating to purchase orders, container status, inbound deliveries, shipping dates, expected arrival timing, and stock movements.
  • Supporting inventory visibility by monitoring inbound replenishment, stock availability, delivery risk, and supply constraints.
  • Supporting vendor performance management by identifying recurring issues relating to delays, documentation accuracy, product availability, order confirmation, and supplier communication.
  • Participating in supplier, distributor, freight, and internal supply chain meetings with clear updates on open orders, lead times, carrier movements, risks, and priorities.
  • Contributing to stronger purchasing discipline, freight visibility, reporting accuracy, escalation processes, and supply chain process improvement.

Your Experience

The successful candidate will bring practical, hands-on experience across several of the following areas:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in supply chain coordination, purchasing, import coordination, inventory control, or a related operational role.
  • Experience coordinating imports into Australia, ideally involving international suppliers, sea freight, container movements, freight forwarders, customs brokers, or inbound freight milestones.
  • Experience raising, managing, and following up purchase orders from placement through to delivery.
  • Strong understanding of supplier order confirmations, production status, dispatch timing, ETDs, ETAs, delays, and escalation points.
  • Exposure to inventory control, inbound stock visibility, replenishment, stock availability, supply planning, or warehouse/distributor supply requirements.
  • A proactive and accountable working style, with the ability to follow through and take ownership of outcomes.

Highly Regarded

The following experience will be highly regarded:

  • A qualification in supply chain, logistics, procurement, business, international trade, or a related field.
  • Vendor management or supplier performance experience.
  • Experience in building products, construction, manufacturing, wholesale, distribution, import, or project supply environments.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to join an established business with a growing supplier network and an evolving supply chain function.

You will gain broad exposure across international purchasing, imports, freight coordination, supplier management, distributor orders, inventory visibility, and national supply chain operations. The role offers genuine ownership, variety, and the opportunity to contribute to a business-critical function.
