Job Objective: 

The Storeperson is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of warehouse receivals and despatch functions. This role is critical in ensuring that inventory is accurately received, stored, and dispatched in a timely manner. The Storeperson will interact with internal departments and external partners, supporting both operational needs and customer satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Strict adherence to Chain of Responsibility and all relevant safety policies and requirements

Accurately receive and inspect incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery documents.

Report and document any discrepancies or damages during the receiving process.

Ensure all received goods are labelled and stored in designated areas promptly.

Prepare and pack orders for dispatch according to company standards and customer requirements.

Coordinate with logistics partners for timely pick-up and delivery of goods.

Ensure all shipping documentation is correctly completed and filed.

Conduct regular stock takes and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.

Competently use computer systems necessary to perform the role as required

Maintain an excellent standard of housekeeping in the warehouse and storage areas

Identify and report slow-moving or obsolete stock to management.

Perform all warehouse activities with a high level of accuracy to minimize errors.

  Additional duties as required, including assisting the Warehouse Supervisors in all office admin duties.

Relationships: 

Internal:

Work closely with the procurement team to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Communicate effectively with internal departments to coordinate warehouse activities and resolve issues.

 

External:

Handle customer inquiries professionally and provide effective solutions to issues.

Foster strong working relationships with suppliers and logistics partners to ensure smooth operations.

 

 

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Forklift license and experience operating warehouse equipment.

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in using inventory management software and basic computer applications.

Understanding of safety regulations and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) principles.

Knowledge of inventory control and warehouse management principles.

Experience with stock taking and inventory reconciliation.
