Site Engineer – Civil Construction
Northwest Sydney Region and Southwest Sydney Regions
A leading civil contractor is seeking a motivated Site Engineer to support the successful delivery of major civil infrastructure projects across Sydney. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being site‑based, working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors and Surveyors to ensure projects run safely, efficiently and to specification.
About the Role
As a Site Engineer, you will play a key role in coordinating site activities, maintaining documentation, supporting project planning, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards. You will liaise with internal teams, clients, councils, inspectors, designers and other stakeholders to keep the project moving smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Site & Project Support
- Attend site meetings and assist with planning and scheduling activities.
- Coordinate site drawings, documents and project reporting.
- Track productivity across bulk earthworks, drainage, pavements and other activities.
- Maintain daily programs for plant, labour and subcontractors.
- Provide updates to clients regarding progress, compliance and potential delays.
- Assist with monthly claims and cost‑control reporting.
Safety & Environmental Compliance - Conduct regular site audits and inspections.
- Ensure adherence to WHS, Environmental and Quality standards.
- Facilitate SWMS reviews, HIDRA processes and safety documentation.
- Gather and verify subcontractor WHS documentation (VOCs, SWMS, plant checks).
- Participate in planning high‑risk activities and incident reporting.
- Support toolbox talks, safety blitzes and customer audits.
Quality Assurance - Inspect works to ensure compliance with engineering designs and specifications.
- Review ITPs, testing records and workmanship.
- Use survey rover for checks, pickups and boundary pegging.
Essential - Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Strong understanding of construction processes and methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail, planning and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem‑solving ability and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Working knowledge of WHS, Environmental and Quality systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks across multiple projects.
- High level of resilience and professionalism.
- Commitment to ongoing development and continuous improvement.
Desirable - Survey rover competence for set‑out and QA checks.
- Ability to negotiate with stakeholders and subcontractors.
