Deliverables / Key Responsibilities
  • Applying advanced scheduling techniques to maintain schedule integrity, including logic validation, constraints management, dependency mapping and baseline control.
  • Providing authoritative planning and scheduling advice to support senior program decision-making.
  • Monitoring task coordination, interdependencies, critical path and near-critical path activities.
  • Conducting detailed schedule analysis to identify schedule drivers, float erosion, emerging risks and potential impacts on program delivery.
  • Performing regular schedule health checks to ensure compliance with agreed scheduling standards, methodologies and governance expectations.
  • Undertaking schedule risk analysis where required, including analysis of probabilistic completion dates and confidence levels.
  • Integrating schedule outputs with program risk registers to ensure alignment between schedule risk, mitigation activity and program reporting.
  • Developing and maintaining risk-informed schedules that support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Preparing high-quality schedule reporting products, including dashboards, status reports, executive briefings and milestone reporting.
  • Establishing and refining schedule performance metrics, including schedule performance index, float trends and milestone adherence.
  • Defining, documenting and maintaining scheduling governance, controls and business processes.
  • Translating complex scheduling data into clear, practical and actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Supporting program reviews, planning cycles and governance forums.
  • Engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior representatives across government and industry.
  • Promoting consistent use of best-practice scheduling methodologies, tools and processes.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of scheduling practices, reporting products, tools and methodologies.
  • Performing other scheduling and program support tasks as reasonably directed, consistent with the seniority and expertise of the role.
Experience/Skills Sought
  • Significant experience delivering project scheduling services in complex major acquisition programs, preferably within Defence, national security, shipbuilding, infrastructure or similarly complex regulated environments.
  • Advanced capability in project schedule development, schedule maintenance, schedule assurance and schedule analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience applying scheduling controls, including logic validation, dependency management, baseline control, critical path analysis and schedule health checks.
  • Experience developing and interpreting schedule performance metrics, including schedule performance index, float trends, milestone adherence and schedule variance.
  • Experience conducting or supporting schedule risk analysis and developing risk-informed schedules.
  • Strong understanding of program risk, issue and dependency management, including the ability to align schedule outputs with program risk registers and mitigation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear and accurate schedule reporting products, including dashboards, executive briefings, status reports and governance papers.
  • Experience reviewing or assuring contractor or stakeholder schedule artefacts, such as Contract Master Schedules, Work Breakdown Structures and Integrated Master Schedules.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work constructively across government, industry, technical teams and senior executive forums.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex scheduling information into clear advice for decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor team members, transfer knowledge and build scheduling capability within a program team.
  • Experience with Open Plan Professional or similar enterprise scheduling platforms is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse multiple information sources, including quantitative and qualitative program data, to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Experience working within Defence acquisition, shipbuilding, submarine, naval, maritime or complex capability delivery programs.
  • Familiarity with Commonwealth program governance, major acquisition reporting and senior executive decision-making environments.
  • Experience working with Australian and international industry partners.
  • Strong judgement, professional maturity and the ability to operate effectively in a sensitive, high-profile and complex program environment.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to improve scheduling practices, tools, reporting and governance over time.
