Senior Kubernetes/AWS Infrastructure Engineer - Defence Cloud Infrastructure

Location: Canberra, ACT / Melbourne, VIC
Contract: Labour-hire contract, 12 months, with possible extension options available for the right candidate
Pay: $140 - $160 p/h including super (negotiable)
Work type: Full-time
Work arrangement: Onsite, with specific arrangements agreed with your supervisor on a case-by-case basis
Clearance: Must hold a current NV1 clearance or above

About the Role
This is a labour-hire opportunity with our Federal Government client in a Defence and national security environment. There are two senior infrastructure engineering roles available.

You will build and support secure AWS cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on Kubernetes, EKS and container platforms. The work includes new platform builds, go-live readiness, automation and infrastructure as code.

This role suits a senior engineer who can solve complex cloud problems, document designs clearly and keep critical platforms reliable. The environment is sensitive, so judgement, security discipline and clear communication matter.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, implement and manage secure AWS cloud infrastructure
• Build and support EKS, Kubernetes and container platform capability
• Provide level 2 and 3 support for new platform builds
• Prepare services for go-live and operational readiness
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines across build, test and deployment
• Use Terraform and AWS CDK to orchestrate infrastructure
• Create clear technical design documentation
• Develop and execute test plans for platform changes
• Work with security and delivery teams to apply cloud security best practice

• You've spent 5+ years as a Senior DevOps AWS Engineer, with strong hands-on EKS and Kubernetes experience
• You've applied cloud security best practice in complex AWS environments
• You've built or supported container platforms across Kubernetes, ECS and EKS
• You understand AWS cloud platform infrastructure and AWS landing zones deeply
• You've helped transition complex infrastructure to AWS using cloud-native solutions
• You can use Terraform, AWS CDK and CI/CD patterns to automate reliable delivery
• You're an Australian citizen
• You must hold a current NV1 clearance or above

• Experience in Defence, intelligence, cyber or sensitive Commonwealth environments
• Experience supporting go-live operational readiness for platform builds
• Strong technical design documentation and test planning skills
• Hands-on level 2 and 3 support in cloud or platform environments
