Job Description

The role partners with PICs, Design Leads and Senior Associates to ensure projects are commercially sound, contractually robust and well governed. You will be involved early, stay engaged throughout delivery, and help teams make informed decisions that protect both design intent and commercial outcomes.

You will be part of Hassell’s national Commercial community and a key commercial specialist in the Perth studio.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Contract Administrator to join our Perth studio. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing contracts and ensuring the successful delivery of major projects in WA and nationally. You will work closely with our commercial team, project managers, architects, and external stakeholders to administer contracts, manage risks, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management: Administer and manage contracts throughout the project lifecycle, including preparation, negotiation, execution, and closeout of contracts.
  • Tendering Process: Assist in the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and negotiation with contractors and suppliers.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate contractual risks, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Cost Control: Monitor project budgets, manage variations, and assess claims for additional costs, ensuring cost-effective delivery of projects.
  • Document Control: Maintain accurate records of all contractual documents, correspondence, and change orders.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to resolve contractual issues and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Progress Reporting: Prepare regular reports on contract status, progress, and any potential issues, providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Dispute Resolution: Assist in the resolution of disputes, including the preparation of documentation and participation in negotiations or mediation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
  • 5 + years of experience as a Contract Administrator, preferably in major projects within the construction or architectural sectors.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, consultancy agreements and procurement processes in WA and Australia.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple contracts and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.

Desirable

  • Experience within an architecture or multidisciplinary design practice

  • Familiarity with public sector clients and procurement models

  • Experience working across multiple concurrent projects
