About the role

The Senior Airport Operations & Works Safety Officer sits within the Airfield Performance team in the Aviation Operations Division at Sydney Airport. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the safety, compliance, and operational integrity of the airfield environment, supporting safe aircraft movement and ensuring regulatory alignment.

This role contributes to the efficient coordination of airfield works, working closely with contractors and operational stakeholders to ensure safe execution of works across the movement area. It offers the opportunity to operate in a dynamic airside environment where clear communication, confidence, and collaboration are essential to maintaining operational continuity.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to…

• Coordinate airfield works, including managing contractor activity across active movement areas
• Monitor operational conditions to ensure safety, compliance, and serviceability at all times
• Issue operational notifications such as NOTAMs accurately and in line with approved plans
• Conduct inspections to identify defects and implement appropriate operational controls
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including construction contractors, to manage risks
• Respond to incidents and operational disruptions to maintain safety and continuity
• Contribute to continuous improvement across airfield safety and operational processes

About you

• Background working in airport operations, aerodrome reporting, or a comparable operational environment
• Exposure to construction or infrastructure environments, with experience engaging contractors on active worksites would be advantageous
• Understanding of airside safety, operational procedures, and working in controlled environments
• Ability to communicate confidently with groups of stakeholders in operational settings
• Demonstrated willingness to learn, contribute, and support team outcomes
• Proficiency using computer systems, including Microsoft Office or similar tools
• Experience as an Aerodrome Reporting Officer (ARO) is preferred but not essential
