What’s on offer?

We are seeking a highly experienced and energetic Regional Commercial Manager with proven business acumen gained from your firsthand experience in large infrastructure projects/ programs of work (>$300 million/ >$100m p.a) environments, to join our Fulton Hogan Utilities business in New South Wales. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your career within a vibrant delivery team that is proud to partner with our client to deliver world class utilities services for the customers and communities within which we operate.

The role will see you accountable for managing all contractual, claims, disputes, financial and project controls aspects of the project, ensuring key obligations and objectives are met and complied with.

In this role you'll be responsible for:

  • Reviewing contracts in the tender phase to assess risk and acceptability of the offered terms

  • Delivery of multidisciplinary commercial support for the project, encompassing contracts management, commercial claims, finance, and project controls

  • Driving the management, preparation, submission, and resolution of complex contract claims, including time-related and cost-based claims, on major infrastructure projects

  • Annual budget setting and oversight, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and claims risk profiles

  • Overseeing program-wide time and cost control, monthly forecasting, and preparation of robust monthly reporting, with a particular emphasis on claims tracking and commercial risk mitigation

  • Utilising your advanced commercial negotiation skills to successfully resolve contractual issues, disputed claims, and variations in a collaborative and strategic manner

  • Proactively responding to changes in client needs and expectations, and managing the development of collaborative relationships built on trust, transparency, and consistent commercial outcomes.

How you'll connect to the role:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in commercial law, construction management, business management, engineering or a related discipline

  • Comprehensive knowledge of major project/program commercial requirements based on firsthand experience working for a large construction contractor

  • Firsthand experience with joint venture enterprises an advantage

  • Ability to apply various techniques to seek constructive outcomes to contract negotiations, including ability to influence others and defend commercial positions.

  • Demonstrable experience in developing and maintaining interactions and relationships with internal and external key stakeholders
