Job Description
Albemarle is hiring for a Procurement Governance and Controls Specialist. This position is hybrid, and located in Budapest, Hungary.
What You Will Do:
Procurement Compliance Controls Execution
Execute recurring compliance controls to ensure adherence to procurement policies and internal governance standards.
Perform regular monitoring of:
Split requisitions to detect policy circumvention
Competitive sourcing compliance
Payment term deviations
PO type and material group accuracy
Conduct structured reviews using system reports and defined sampling methodologies.
Document findings, escalate non-compliance, and ensure corrective actions are tracked to closure.
Procurement Operations Controls & Monitoring
Execute operational controls supporting end-to-end procurement process health, including:
Purchase Order lifecycle management and data quality checks
Framework order reconciliation
ARIBA interface monitoring (CIG transactions, failed POs, ME9F outputs)
Vendor-related reviews (e.g., deduplication, inactive vendors, contact validation)
Monitor system-driven reports and exceptions, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
Maintain oversight of transactional integrity across regions (Americas, EMEA, APAC).
Data Quality & Process Integrity Assurance
Perform regular reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency of procurement master and transactional data, including:
Payment terms alignment (contract, vendor, invoice and PO level)
Category of supply and material group consistency and accuracy
PO delivery date and order confirmation follow-ups
Identify data inconsistencies and initiate corrective actions in collaboration with Operational Procurement, Master Data, and AP teams.
Audit, Controls & Risk Support
Support internal and external audit activities by providing control evidence, documentation, and explanations of processes.
Act as a key contributor to audit readiness by maintaining proper documentation of control execution and results.
Flag and escalate control gaps, operational risks, and recurring compliance issues.
Reporting & Insights
Prepare and deliver regular operational and compliance reporting, including:
Control execution status
Identified issues and trends
Volume and regional insights
Support monthly operational reviews and provide data-driven recommendations to improve compliance and efficiency.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Issue Resolution
Partner closely with Operational Procurement, other departments and business stakeholders to:
Resolve compliance deviations and operational issues
Provide guidance on procurement policy application
Ensure alignment on corrective actions and process improvements
Serve as a point of contact for governance-related questions and escalations.
Continuous Improvement & Automation Support
Identify opportunities to improve control efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Support automation initiatives (e.g., RPA, system enhancements, reporting automation) by:
Highlighting control gaps suitable for automation
Monitoring automated process outputs and exceptions
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and governance framework evolution.
Periodically assess existing controls for effectiveness and timeliness, and identify opportunities to introduce new controls to strengthen procurement governance and mitigate emerging risks.
Training & User Enablement
Support end-user awareness through:
Targeted training sessions
Feedback sharing based on common control findings
Promote compliant procurement behaviors across the organization.
Operational Governance Activities
Execute additional recurring governance activities such as:
Purchase requisition cleanup and maintenance
Offboarding-related procurement checks
Periodic system and configuration validations (e.g., exchange rate updates)
What You Bring
Required:
College or University degree
5+ years of experience in Procurement or in a relevant field (preferably at least 4 year with Albemarle)
