The Process/Mechanical Procurement Engineer will play a crucial role in sourcing, negotiating, and managing the technical procurement of mechanical and process equipment for our water projects.

This role is vital to ensuring that all procurement activities are carried out efficiently and effectively, supporting our technical solutions and commitment to project success and operational outcomes.

The role reports into our National Technology Lead – Water, and will be based in Pyrmont head office, Sydney.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• Technical Specifications: Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical requirements and ensure that purchased equipment meets all specifications and quality standards.
• Supplier Management: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of equipment.
• Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement procurement strategies for mechanical and process equipment that align with project requirements and organizational goals.
• Cost Control: Monitor and manage procurement budgets, ensuring that all procurement activities are executed within financial constraints and program requirements.
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier correspondence.
• Compliance: Ensure all procurement processes adhere to relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
• An advanced level of experience in procurement within the engineering or construction industry, with a focus on mechanical and process equipment.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage supplier relationships and drive cost savings.
• In-depth understanding of mechanical and process equipment specifications, procurement practices and water system integration.
• Familiarity with procurement software and tools, as well as standard office applications.
