Operations Manager VIC

Position Overview

Lead the strategic and day-to-day management of production, despatch, and warehousing at the Dandenong South site for Gliderol. This is a hands-on leadership role, including the opportunity to run a new site, ensuring safe, efficient operations that consistently meet targets for output, DIFOT, cost, quality, and inventory, while driving continuous improvement across all production areas.

You will lead scheduling and process optimisation, manage teams, and deliver process initiatives and capital projects, while strengthening preventative maintenance and process control. You will plan and coordinate resources with accuracy and efficiency, and foster a strong, service-oriented culture through effective collaboration and communication with internal and external stakeholders.

What you will do

• Lead a large, hands-on team across a major manufacturing, dispatch, and warehousing facility at Gliderol, including oversight of a new site setup
•  Lead safe, efficient production, despatch, and warehousing operations at Dandenong South, ensuring DIFOT, quality, cost, and inventory targets are met
• Actively manage day-to-day operations including production scheduling, despatch coordination, and workflow optimisation
• Safety & Wellbeing by embedding risk management and driving incident reduction
• Drive continuous improvement to lift capacity, labour utilisation, recoveries, and reduce quality issues
• Optimise inventory and working capital through strong controls, accurate consumption tracking, and effective warehousing practices
• Deliver reliable, cost-effective transport and distribution solutions that meet customer and business needs
• Implement preventative and predictive maintenance to maximise asset performance and uptime
• Lead, coach, and develop teams, building capability, managing performance, and fostering a high-performing, customer-focused culture
• Execute annual business plans, track performance, and deliver against defined KPIs and strategic objectives

What we require

• Proven leadership experience in manufacturing, logistics, or operations management
• Strong knowledge of production planning, inventory control, and dispatch operations
• Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety with solid understanding of risk management and compliance
• Track record of driving continuous improvement and operational performance against KPIs
• Experience in leading teams, influencing stakeholders, and managing performance outcomes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to implement practical, cost-effective solutions
• Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, customer-focused approach
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment

What we prefer

• Minimum 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing, production, and dispatch operations, with a strong background in automated and automotive machinery environments
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in complex operational settings
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Manufacturing, or a related discipline
• Strong Lean Manufacturing experience
