Operations Manager – Preston & Dandenong, VIC

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager – BOC to lead and coordinate logistics operations across multiple sites within our gases network in Victoria. Reporting to the National Gases Manager, this role plays a critical part in driving operational excellence, safety performance, and continuous improvement while supporting frontline leaders and large operational teams.

This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity for a proven transport and logistics professional who thrives in complex, safety‑critical environments and enjoys balancing strategy with day‑to‑day operational execution.

As the Operations Manager, you will have end‑to‑end accountability for operational performance, compliance, and people leadership across multiple sites.

Regular travel between sites is required, and occasional after‑hours or weekend work may be necessary to support operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities / a day in the life of the Operations Manager –

  • Leading safe, compliant and efficient transport and logistics operations across the BOC gases network.

  • Driving strong HSE performance, including incident management, audits and regulatory compliance.

  • Providing leadership, coaching and support to Supervisors and large frontline teams.

  • Overseeing fleet maintenance programs and ensuring audit‑ready documentation.

  • Managing driver rostering, fatigue compliance, payroll accuracy and workforce planning.

  • Monitoring performance metrics (safety, service, productivity and cost) and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Preparing and chairing business, compliance and performance reviews, while partnering with internal stakeholders and BOC to maintain consistent operational standards.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Extensive experience in transport, logistics or industrial operations within a multi‑site environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of NHVR, Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management and compliance frameworks.

  • Proven experience managing large operational teams, including frontline leaders.

  • Confidence working with enterprise systems such as TMS, safety, payroll and workforce management platforms.

  • A practical, solutions‑focused approach to risk management, incidents and operational challenges.
