About the Role

As the Operations Manager you will be responsible for ensuring operational services meet client requirements and key performance indicators, while maintaining strong client relationships and driving continuous improvement.

 

You will provide visible leadership to operational teams, work closely with Shift Supervisors and partner with the Technical Manager and shore-based teams to maintain strong safety and operational performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead safe, reliable and effective marine operations across Cape Lambert and Dampier.
  • Ensure services are delivered in line with client contracts, operational requirements and agreed KPIs.
  • Manage incidents, hazards and risks, including reporting and stakeholder communication.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Represent Westug at regular client meetings and support the management of client requests.
  • Monitor operational and maintenance budgets and identify cost-saving and improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee contractor performance and vessel and asset maintenance activities.
  • Ensure crew are appropriately trained, competent and compliant.
  • Develop and review operational procedures, manuals, policies and risk management plans.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives, projects and system enhancements.
  • Set and manage team KPIs, address performance matters and promote accountability and a positive safety culture.
  • Support the General Manager WA with organisational priorities and provide operational leadership and cover as required.

 

About You

You will be an experienced marine operations professional with a strong understanding of vessel operations and maintenance and a demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 5+ years’ marine industry experience in vessel operations and maintenance.
  • A marine qualification and/or business degree is desirable.
  • Strong safety leadership and knowledge of marine safety legislation and environmental requirements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • A proactive approach to decision-making, continuous improvement and operational performance.
  • The ability to lead, motivate and develop teams to operate safely and effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • A current C Class Driver’s Licence.
