At Delta, our people are at the centre of everything we do. Guided by our values of Care, Achievement, Respect and Empowerment, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and high-performing workplace where our teams can thrive. We are currently seeking a Mine Operations Manager to join our team based in Chain Valley Colliery.

This is a pivotal role responsible for leading the transformation of CVC, strengthening safety, operational performance and organisational effectiveness, while ensuring the mine reliably supports Vales Point and creates value across Delta.

As the statutory function holder, you will combine strong technical capability with strategic leadership to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement and long-term business performance.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead the delivery and execution of the CVC Optimisation Program, driving improvements across safety, productivity, equipment reliability, culture and cost performance, while ensuring CVC is aligned to the needs of Vales Point and the broader Delta business. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and key stakeholders across Delta, you will challenge the status quo, identify opportunities for optimisation and implement sustainable change that delivers measurable business outcomes.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Fulfilling statutory Mining Engineering Manager responsibilities and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations.
  • Leading the CVC Optimisation Program and broader business transformation initiatives.
  • Driving a culture of operational excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Reviewing and redesigning operating models, systems, processes and organisational structures.
  • Partnering with Vales Point and broader Delta functions to align mine plans, coal supply, quality, timing and cost with whole-of-business requirements.
  • Leading strategic planning, performance management and operational integration activities.
  • Driving technology adoption, innovation and future-readiness initiatives.
  • Developing leadership capability and strengthening organisational effectiveness.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve mine performance, extend mine life and maximise value from operations.

About You

You are an experienced mining leader with a proven ability to drive operational improvement and business transformation. Combining strategic thinking with practical execution, you have successfully led complex change initiatives, built strong stakeholder relationships and delivered sustainable outcomes across safety, culture and performance. You are able to think beyond the boundaries of the mine and understand how operational decisions at CVC affect the broader Delta value chain.

You are recognised as a collaborative leader who builds trust, challenges constructively and creates an environment where accountability, safety and high performance thrive.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency and eligibility to fulfil Mining Engineering Manager statutory responsibilities.
  • Mining Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Coal mining experience, including senior operational leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success leading operational turnarounds, business improvement and transformation programs within complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of underground coal mining legislation, regulatory requirements and statutory obligations.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex operational challenges and develop strategic, practical solutions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience implementing operating systems, continuous improvement frameworks or large-scale organisational change programs.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing leadership capability.

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Mining Engineering Management, Business, Leadership or a related discipline.
  • Experience in strategic planning, mine life extension studies and business optimisation initiatives.
