Mechanical Fitter – Mackay Workshop

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our Mackay Workshop team.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a key role in the stripping, assessment, refurbishment, repair and assembly of OEM mining and mineral processing equipment. Working within a safety-first environment, you will ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with FLS quality and workmanship expectations.

This is a hands-on workshop-based role suited to someone who takes pride in delivering first-time quality outcomes and enjoys working collaboratively within a supportive team environment.

Your Responsibilities

• Strip, assess, repair and refurbish mineral processing equipment

• Assemble and install components in accordance with approved procedures and technical drawings

• Inspect equipment and identify wear, defects or required repairs

• Complete workshop documentation, including digital and paper-based reports

• Maintain workshop cleanliness and adhere to all safety requirements

• Participate in on-the-job training and continuous improvement initiatives

• Support FLSmidth’s strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

• Trade qualification

• Previous workshop or mining equipment experience

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

• Forklift licence

• Current driver’s licence

• Dogman/Rigging High Risk Work Licence (desirable)

• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

• Ability to work effectively within a team environment

• High level of physical fitness and a positive work ethic
