About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer plays a critical role in the design, development and continuous improvement of specialised tanker and transport equipment solutions.

This position offers a high degree of autonomy and is responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical design, drafting and production engineering outcomes across multiple projects. Leveraging advanced SolidWorks capabilities, you will develop innovative and practical engineering solutions that meet customer requirements, industry standards and manufacturing best practices.

Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Production and Project teams, you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to manufacture. You will also engage with customers on technical matters, support product development initiatives, verify engineering designs and calculations, and drive continuous improvement across engineering systems and processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and technically skilled engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and seeing their designs come to life in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

About You

You are a motivated and technically capable Mechanical Design Engineer who combines strong design expertise with practical engineering knowledge. You enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering.
  • Advanced SolidWorks design and drafting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise change management principles, processes, behaviours and skills to identify, manage, initiate and influence change while supporting others through change.
  • Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment and work effectively under pressure.
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and planning skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), CAD and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience in engineering testing, analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Risk management experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures, including ITPs and PPAP.
  • Experience within manufacturing, heavy vehicle, transport equipment or industrial engineering environments will be highly regarded.
