FMS Group is looking for an experienced Major Shutdown Coordinator to lead the safe, efficient and successful delivery of major shutdowns across the Bowen Basin.

About the Role

As Major Shutdown Coordinator, you’ll take ownership of shutdown planning, coordination and execution, working closely with site management, clients, supervisors, contractors and project teams to achieve outstanding operational outcomes.

Your leadership will be critical in driving productivity, managing resources, controlling costs and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee major shutdowns across multiple Bowen Basin mine sites.
  • Develop detailed shutdown plans, schedules, resource allocations and execution strategies.
  • Lead and coordinate supervisors, tradespeople, subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor progress against schedules, budgets and key performance targets.
  • Identify potential risks, resolve issues and implement corrective actions to minimise delays.
  • Ensure compliance with site procedures, client requirements, company standards and safety legislation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance shutdown performance, productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and lead by example across all work activities.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a hands-on leader who combines technical knowledge, strong planning capabilities and the ability to bring teams together to deliver successful shutdowns.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • A trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Diesel Fitting, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Current S123 and G2 competencies
  • Extensive coal mining experience within the Bowen Basin
  • Proven leadership experience managing supervisors, tradespeople, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with dragline, shovel, CHPP and fixed plant maintenance shutdowns
  • A sound understanding of shutdown planning, budgeting, project controls and risk management
  • A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, accountability and operational excellence
  • A current Coal Board Medical, Standard 11 and Drivers Licence
