Opal Fibre Packaging provides a full service offering in corrugated cardboard box packaging from design and product testing through to supply chain integration. We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join the team at our site in Bibra Lake/ Spearwood. This role is a full-time and ongoing position on the afternoon shift (Monday to Thursday 3pm – 11pm and Friday 12 – 5pm).

The key focus of this role will be to:

  • Play a key role within a team focused on the development and execution of efficient preventative maintenance practices on the site
  • Maintaining equipment condition and reliability so that company quality and safety targets can be achieved
  • Provide technical support to the Maintenance and Production teams
  • Where required the timely action and satisfactory completion of machine breakdowns
  • Assist with ordering components from external suppliers as necessary with appropriate approval
  • Respond to specific requests regarding the details of repair and/or maintenance to equipment on a technical basis

For this role we would ideally like you to have:

  • A fitting trade qualification or equivalent qualification
  • A current high-risk work license (HRWL), with relevant forklift-driving & elevated work platforms experience (or if not, openness to obtain these if successful in obtaining the role)
  • Machining and basic welding experience
  • General computer skills (such as using Microsoft Office programs) & experience using maintenance management systems (SAP experience would be highly regarded, but is not a mandatory requirement)
  • Knowledge & experience in safe working practices/procedures
  • The ability to be a supportive team member, trustworthy with great work ethic
  • The ability to be a quick learner with a professional can-do attitude
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal & written)
  • Ability to work overtime hours as required
