About HMR 

HMR is a national contractor providing underground and surface DRILLING, MINING and RAISEBORING services to clients across Australia. 

 

The Role 

We are seeking an experienced Underground Service Crew Leading Hand to lead and coordinate service crew activities across underground operations. You will be responsible for supervising crews while ensuring all installation, maintenance, and support tasks are completed safely and efficiently. 

 

Key Details 

  • Location: King Island, Tasmania

  • Roster:14/14 

  • FIFO from Major Cities 

  • Accommodation and meals provided 

  • Full-time, permanent positions 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead and supervise underground service crew teams 

  • Coordinate installation and maintenance of ventilation, services, and infrastructure 

  • Operate and oversee equipment including Volvo L120 loaders as required

  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with site procedures 

  • Conduct pre-starts, toolbox talks, and safety inspections 

  • Monitor work quality and productivity to meet operational targets 

  • Liaise with supervisors, engineers, and other departments 

  • Train and mentor crew members 

  • Maintain accurate records and reporting 

 

Qualifications / Requirements 

  • Proven experience in underground service crew roles 

  • Previous leadership or Leading Hand experience 

  • Strong knowledge of underground mining services (ventilation, dewatering, services install) 

  • Valid Supervisor Certificate (desirable) 

  • High regard for safety and team leadership 

  • Australian citizen or permanent resident 

  • Pass pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol screening 

  • Police clearance within 6 months
