About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced electrician with strong exposure to general marine electrical systems, supported by experience in generator, engine, and control systems. As a Leading Hand, you will remain actively on the tools while leading crews, coordinating works, and setting standards on site.

A key part of this role is mentoring and developing other team members, including apprentices and junior electricians, ensuring consistent quality, safety, and capability across the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and mentor electrical field crews across marine and rail projects

• Marine onboard electrical installation, maintenance, and upgrades, including:

o Power distribution and switchboards

o Lighting and navigation systems

o Machinery and auxiliary equipment connections

• Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of:

o Marine generators and engine control systems

o PLC-based control and automation systems

• Electrical works on port, dockside, and rail-related infrastructure

• Fault finding and diagnostics across electrical, generator, and control systems

• Coordinate site works, shutdowns, and commissioning activities

• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, marine, and rail standards

• Support job planning, documentation, and client liaison

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• A-Class Electrical Licence (Victoria)

• Strong experience in marine electrical work, including generators or engine-driven systems

• Leadership or Leading Hand experience

• Proven ability to mentor and develop team members

• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

• Current Driver’s Licence

• White Card

• CPR / LVR

• Australian Citizenship

Required or Willing to Obtain:

• Police Check

• Pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening

Desirable:

• Current MSIC pass

• PLC / SCADA exposure

• EWP, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces

• Marine First Aid
