Are you an experienced industrial electrician who can run a site, lead a small crew and still work on the tools?

FarmPower is an Australian electrical and automation contractor specialising in complex electrical projects across the commercial poultry, egg and intensive livestock industries.

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Electrical Site Foreman / Working Supervisor from South Africa to relocate to Australia and take responsibility for delivering electrical projects throughout regional Australia.

You do not need previous poultry experience.

We are primarily looking for someone with strong industrial electrical capability, good leadership skills and experience working with automation, controls, motors and production equipment.

Experience in poultry, agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, feed milling, grain handling or similar industries will be highly regarded.

 

The Role

This is a hands-on leadership position.

You will work alongside and lead a crew of up to four electricians and technicians while taking responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of the project.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating a small electrical installation crew
  • Remaining hands-on with electrical installation work
  • Planning daily and weekly site activities
  • Allocating labour and coordinating materials
  • Reading electrical drawings and control schematics
  • Installing industrial power and control systems
  • Wiring motors, VSDs, sensors, control panels and production equipment
  • Fault finding and commissioning electrical and automation systems
  • Coordinating with builders, mechanical installers, equipment suppliers and customers
  • Monitoring productivity, workmanship and project progress
  • Identifying problems early and keeping projects moving
  • Training and supporting less experienced team members
  • Taking ownership of the electrical installation from commencement through to commissioning

Who We Are Looking For

You may currently be working as an:

Electrical Foreman | Industrial Electrician | Electrical Supervisor | Site Supervisor | Automation Technician | Commissioning Electrician | Senior Electrical Technician |

Ideally, you will have:

  • South African Wiremans Licence (Class IE or MIE)
  • Strong industrial or commercial electrical experience
  • Previous experience leading a small team or running electrical installation projects
  • Experience with three-phase motors, contactors, overloads and VSDs
  • Strong control wiring and fault-finding capability
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics
  • Experience working around PLC-controlled machinery or automated equipment
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Confidence communicating with customers and other contractors
  • A practical approach to solving problems
  • High standards of workmanship
  • The ability to work independently and take responsibility for getting a job completed properly

 

Experience That Will Be Highly Regarded

Experience in any of the following industries would be particularly relevant:

  • Poultry or egg production
  • Intensive livestock
  • Food processing
  • Feed mills
  • Grain handling
  • Agricultural automation
  • Manufacturing
  • Process plants
  • Water and wastewater
  • Industrial machinery
  • Mining or materials handling
  • HVAC and building controls

Previous experience with Big Dutchman, SKOV, Fancom, Rotem/Munters, Plasson, Landmeco, Lubing, Cumberland or similar livestock and automation systems would be an advantage, but is not essential.

If you are a strong industrial electrician and site leader, we can teach you the poultry industry.

 

Regional Project Lifestyle

An important part of this role is travel.

Our projects are located throughout regional Australia, and the successful candidate must be comfortable living and working away from home for extended project periods.

Some major projects may require the site team to be based in a regional location for 6–12 months, with accommodation provided and rostered time away from site depending on the project.
