We’re seeking an experienced Associate to Senior Associate-level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical & Tunnels team, working across a diverse portfolio of transport, energy, water, and major infrastructure projects. This role will suit a Geotechnical Engineer with strong technical capability, commercial awareness, and a passion for delivering best‑practice consulting outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide strong project leadership while maintaining hands-on technical involvement across complex geotechnical investigations and designs

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of geotechnical projects, from proposal and project start-up through to construction support and close‑out, including managing multiple concurrent projects

  • Lead and deliver complex geotechnical investigations and designs, from proposal through to construction support
  • Analyse and interpret geotechnical data using advanced methods and engineering judgement
  • Prepare, review, and sign off high-quality technical reports and client recommendations
  • Provide trusted technical advice to clients and guide them through regulatory and delivery challenges
  • Apply safety-in-design principles and champion strong HSE outcomes on every project
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to a culture of technical excellence
  • Contribute to bids, proposals, and business development through strong client relationships

 

What you’ll bring

  • At least 7 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably within a consulting environment
  • Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded)
  • Demonstrated experience managing geotechnical projects end-to-end, including scope, budget, programme, and resources, with a focus on infrastructure and construction projects.

  • Excellent client management skills, with confidence communicating complex technical and delivery issues 

  • Experience coordinating fieldwork, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams

  • Advanced reporting, interpretation, and client-facing skills
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard analysis and modelling tools (e.g. PLAXIS, FLAC, SLIDE, gINT or similar)
  • Sound understanding of Australian standards, legislation, and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven ability to manage projects and influence outcomes commercially and technically
  • CPEng (or close to achieving) highly regarded
