Description

What if you could do the kind of work the world needs?

At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.

Do you love solving the hard geotechnical problems?
Does numerical modelling, advanced analysis, and design get you excited?
Do you want to work alongside some of the sharpest geotechnical minds in the business?

Then this role's for you!

With more than 150 years of combined global expertise, our Geotechnics & Tunnels team is pushing boundaries across transport, energy, mining and major infrastructure. We’re now looking for a Geotechnical Engineer with a passion for analysis and modelling to help tackle some of Australia’s most technically challenging projects.

What you’ll do

This is a hands-on, technically rich role where you’ll be trusted to think deeply, challenge assumptions, and design smart outcomes.

You’ll:

  • Deliver advanced geotechnical analysis and numerical modelling, from concept through to construction
  • Build, run and interpret models using PLAXIS 2D/3D or similar tools
  • Apply strong soil and rock mechanics knowledge to real-world engineering problems
  • Partner with fellow engineers to develop robust, defensible designs
  • Translate complex analysis into clear, client-ready insights and reports
  • Support and contribute to major transport, tunnelling, mining and infrastructure projects
  • Balance technical excellence with programme, budget and quality outcomes
  • Get out on site when needed to stay connected to the ground conditions behind the models

About you

You’re technically curious, analytical by nature, and comfortable working through complex problems.

You’ll bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Geomechanics Engineering or a related field
  • RPEQ qualification advantageous but not essential
  • Relevant experience as a Geotechnical Engineer, Civil Engineer, Rock Mechanics Engineer, Geomechanics Engineer, or in a related position preferred
  • Strong numerical modelling for geotechnical applications
  • Strong capability in finite element modelling
  • Solid grounding in geotechnical analysis and design
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills (you can explain the “why,” not just the maths)
  • Exposure to transport, mining or large infrastructure projects preferred but not essential.
