Due to unprecedented growth an expansion HMR is a national contractor providing underground and surface DRILLING, MINING and RAISEBORING services to clients across Australia and is seeking to strengthen its corporate support in line with the company’s growth.

The Role

The Financial Controller is responsible for driving and optimising all financial operations, ensuring full compliance with Australian accounting standards, and delivering critical, forward-looking insights that enhance performance and support sustainable growth across our mining and drilling operations.

Key Details

• Full-time, permanent position

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end finance function (AR, AP, payroll, general ledger)
• Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow
• Ensure compliance with AASB standards, taxation, and statutory requirements
• Partner with leadership to support strategic decision-making
• Oversee audits, tax obligations, and regulatory reporting
• Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies
• Lead and develop a high-performing finance team 

About You

• CA or CPA qualified
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
• High attention to detail with strong commercial acumen

Requirements:

• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
• Current Police Clearance (within 6 months)
