An opportunity is available for an experienced Estimator to join a local building contractor working across Sydney and North Sydney.

We're looking for someone with a sound understanding of residential and commercial construction who can prepare accurate, competitive tenders and work closely with the delivery team.

If you enjoy getting into the detail, building relationships with subcontractors and helping projects get off to a well-planned start, this could be a good next move.

About the role
You'll be involved in the estimating process from reviewing enquiries through to tender submission and handover. Responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents
• Preparing take-offs, cost estimates and detailed tender submissions
• Obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Identifying scope gaps, project risks and opportunities for cost savings
• Preparing clear tender qualifications, assumptions and exclusions
• Liaising with clients, consultants and subcontractors to clarify requirements
• Working with the construction team to ensure a thorough handover of successful tenders
• Maintaining current pricing information and strong supplier relationships

About you
You'll bring estimating experience across both residential and commercial building projects, with a practical understanding of construction methods, trade packages and costs.

We're keen to hear from candidates who have:

• Experience estimating for a building contractor
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage tender deadlines
• Confidence reviewing technical drawings and comparing trade quotes
• Good communication and relationship-building skills
• Experience using relevant estimating software
• A proactive approach and the confidence to raise questions early

Knowledge of the Sydney subcontractor market would be an advantage, but not essential. Candidates with existing rights to work in Australia are preferred.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working closely with a local team and taking ownership of their estimates.
