UGL’s in-house engineering and design capability, together with our strong project delivery and operations and maintenance expertise puts us in a strong position in the market. Our target project opportunities include Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and Wind Projects, as well as Hydrogen and Ammonia projects. 

We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to support our growing Energy & Industrial Projects portfolio.

ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate cost management, forecasting, and financial reporting across multiple projects, working closely with Project Managers and commercial teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for a cost professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and wants to contribute to Australia’s energy transition.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project cost control, forecasting, reporting, and trending across project lifecycles
  • Deliver accurate end-of-month reporting, cost accruals, and variance analysis
  • Maintain and manage project financial data in SAP and FPM (cost management system)
  • Monitor commitments, variations, and expenditure to ensure compliance with contract and internal requirements
  • Support project teams with productivity tracking and cost analysis
  • Ensure cost control systems, procedures, and reporting standards are applied consistently across projects
  • Liaise with project, finance, commercial teams, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Support the setup of new projects and ongoing system improvements

     

Your skills and experience:

  • Experience in a similar Cost Controller or Project Controls role
  • Background in construction, renewables, energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects
  • Strong knowledge of cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP highly regarded)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and build effective relationships
  • Qualifications in Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline are highly desirable.
