Are you passionate about environmental conservation and ready to make a real impact? Join our team as an Environmental Field Technician and contribute to preserving and enhancing Western Australia’s natural environment.

About Us Natural Area Consulting Management Services is a proudly Western Australian owned company with over 20 years’ experience delivering high-quality outcomes for clients and the environment. We are passionate about preserving and enhancing WA’s natural spaces, and we are looking for like-minded people to join our team.

The Opportunity

As an Environmental Field Technician, you will report to your Operations Manager with support from Coordinators specialised in project administration and training & quality control. Your workday will typically start at the operations depot where you will be assigned work outdoors on bushland restoration, weed management, revegetation, and conservation projects across Perth. There are also opportunities to work on regional projects in the Pilbara and Great Southern. This is an ideal entry-level role for recent graduates who are passionate about environmental conservation. There are opportunities to progress in this role to Senior Field Technicians and Team Leaders for candidates who can demonstrate leadership skills.

With over 20 years’ experience in environmental field work, the work you are doing is guided by our internal standard operating procedures for work health & safety and quality control. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Weed management, including safe application of herbicides.
  • Revegetation planting and watering.
  • Erosion control.
  • Fire fuel load reduction.
  • Conservation fencing and track maintenance.
  • Rubbish removal and general bushland maintenance.
  • Horticultural work in our native plant nursery.

We strongly encourage all applicants to familiarise themselves with the principles and safe practices of weed control using herbicides before applying. Understanding these requirements will help you assess your interest in the role and ensure you are comfortable with the core responsibilities. Comprehensive training and certification will be provided as part of your employment, but a basic awareness of health and safety principles regarding herbicide application is highly beneficial.

What are we looking for? Your qualification, licences, skills & experiences

Successful applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Completed or near-completed qualification in Conservation, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or Environmental Management from TAFE or University.
  • WA Driver’s Licence.
  • Current first aid certification.
  • Recent police clearance.
  • White Card.

The following training is provided to successful applicants:

  • Chemical application training for basic weed control endorsement on a Pesticide Technician Management License (if not already held).
  • Chainsaw certification (if not already held).
  • On the job training for all other tasks including using small motor equipment, fence construction etc through our in-house training manuals, training videos and highly qualified staff including our dedicated Training & Quality Control Coordinators.
