The Compliance and Risk manager is a leadership position within the Observing Systems and Operations (OSO) Program in the Data and Digital Group.Β 


The Compliance and Risk manager is responsible for the management, planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting of OSO's compliance and risk management obligations including but not limited to internal auditing, mandatory reporting and WHSE engagement that supports the safe construction and operation of the Bureaus observing assets across Australia and the Antarctic.Β 


The Compliance and risk manager is required to work closely with management within OSO and across other programs within DDG and the Bureau to ensure close alignment and engagement on risk, compliance and WHSE best practice. Occasional interstate travel is required.


The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:


  • Manage OSO allocated budgets and resources for compliance and ensure activities are expended in a timely and risk assessed manner
  • Planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting on operational network safety concerns to enterprise forums in alignment with the Bureaus risk management framework
  • Coordinate and lead the OSO WHSE Governance board and represent OSO in enterprise compliance and Safety forums.
  • Where appropriate oversee and or manage critical WHSE remediation works.
  • Coordinate a safety inspection and survey program that is integrated into EAMS utilising modern technology and methods, participate in field inspections processes where practical and provide guidance on remediation costings.
  • Build capability and responsiveness within and capitalise on the expertise at hand. Identify gaps and areas of improvement and innovation across the network and work with others to realise these enhancements.
  • Oversee OSO Business Continuity and risk management including representing OSO on critical Incident Management.
  • Work closely with Enterprise WHSE resources to communicate and ensure that the OSO WHSE and regulatory knowledge is in line with industry best practice and regulatory considerations.

A degree or diploma of an Australian educational institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, which is appropriate to the duties; OR other comparable qualifications, which are appropriate to the duties.
