Veitch Lister Consulting (VLC) is seeking a proactive, commercially minded Commercial & Operations Manager to support the effective delivery, governance, and performance of our projects, suppliers, and internal systems. This is a part-time position offering flexibility while enabling you to make a meaningful impact.

This role sits at the intersection of commercial operations, contracts, compliance, and quality, ensuring our proposals, panels, suppliers, and management systems operate efficiently, transparently, and in line with organisational and regulatory expectations. You’ll work closely with project managers and stakeholders across the business, bringing strong judgement, structure, and a practical, solutions‑focused approach.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor project progress and close‑out activities, providing clear operational reporting on risks, actions, and performance.
  • Use Vantagepoint and other business systems to support data integrity, transparency, and informed decision‑making.
  • Contribute high‑quality content to proposals and confidently respond to non‑technical and commercial queries.
  • Coordinate supplier qualification, onboarding, and ongoing monitoring to ensure quality, timelines, and service standards are met.
  • Manage panel and prequalification requirements, maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date documentation.
  • Support contract governance, including renewals, obligation tracking, and compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the VLC’s Management System, ensuring documentation, workflows, and audit readiness.
  • Identify and escalate commercial, operational, or compliance risks and work collaboratively to resolve issues.
  • Support process improvement and change initiatives, helping teams embed improved ways of working.

About you

You’re detail‑driven, commercially aware, and comfortable working across operations, compliance, and contracts. You enjoy bringing structure to complex environments and partnering with others to improve outcomes.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in commercial operations, contract administration, compliance, management systems, or operational delivery.
  • Understanding of compliance, privacy, and quality management frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret operational and performance data.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including for proposals and stakeholder engagement.
  • Confidence working with project management or business systems.
  • A collaborative mindset and a practical, solutions‑focused approach.
