What’s on offer?

We wish to complement our existing Fulton Hogan Utilities team with an experienced Commercial Manager. In this role, you will provide strategic commercial leadership across multiple concurrent programs across South East Queensland. You will work closely with Program teams and client representatives to ensure robust financial and commercial management, risk control, contract compliance and stakeholder alignment.

In this role you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading, managing and developing the Commercial and Procurement and Finance functions across a Regional delivery portfolio, partnering closely with customers and internal stakeholders

  • Management and mentoring of program and project contract administration functions including procurement, forecasting, cost control, and variations/claims management in partnership with Finance Manager

  • Management of pre and post commercial functions, including lead contract negotiations and dispute resolution to deliver commercially sound, pragmatic outcomes

  • Driving administration of subcontractor commercial performance and value optimisation across the Region

  • Ensuring compliance with internal governance, internal controls, and all contractual and statutory obligations

  • Developing a high-performing commercial and project controls teams, building a strong customer-focused commercial culture.

How you'll connect to the role:

  • Tertiary qualification in law, commerce, quantity surveying, construction management, engineering or a related discipline

  • 10+ years’ proven experience in a senior commercial role within construction and/or the water industry, with the leadership capability to manage and grow a Region

  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial activities in construction and/or water programs, including design and construct contracts

  • Strong working knowledge of Australian Standard (AS) contracts and alliance-style contracts relationship based contracting models

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen with a strong focus on proactive risk identification and mitigation

  • Experience in commercial negotiations, with strong influencing skills and the ability to robustly defend commercial positions where required

  • Thorough understanding of the relationship between head contracts and subcontracts, including guarantees, warranties, insurances and bonds

  • Extensive experience with financial management, including forecasting, cost and margin management, and reporting
