Fantastic opportunity - Our client, Australia's largest and most successful vehicle body builder, is seeking to appoint experienced Boilermakers & Trade Assistants. Based in Melbourne south-eastern suburbs, 9-day fortnight - Full-time hours - Casual Rates!!

Boilermaker Key Responsibilities:

• Constructing framework sections in metal and other materials using shaping machines and cutting and welding equipment
• Bolting, screwing, riveting and welding sections together to form complete frameworks
• Cutting and shaping panels of sheet metal, aluminum and reinforced plastic and attaching to frameworks using hand and power tools
• Modifying assembly line vehicles to special requirements
• Preparing new vehicle trim work according to drawings and sketches, and removing old coverings and fittings from vehicles and taking new measurements
• Selecting and cutting pieces of fabric, vinyl and leather and sewing pieces together using heavy-duty sewing machines
• Installing internal trim in vehicles such as lining, floor coverings and armrests
• Plastic repair works
• Panel, paint repairs
• Attaching door trims, rubber seals, locks and handles
• Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
• Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
• Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
• Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
• Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
• Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
• Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiseling and grinding.
• Use tools to make or repair parts and products
• Framing and fitting hardware based on different on specifications
• Work with others of the line
• Keep a clean and tidy workspace
• Identify and defective items and handle according to established procedures
• Follow all relevant safety guidelines and procedures
• Read and interpret drawings and written instructions

Boilermakers Qualifications & Experience Required:

• Qualified in Certificate III or IV in Engineering (Fabrication) or equivalent.
• Previous exposure and experience in a vehicle manufacturing, coach body building environment will be highly regarded.
• Applicants with previous experience in Chassis/Construction, Fabrication, coach and body building, sheet metal work would highly be advantageous

Trade Assistants Key Responsibilities:

• Fabricating specialised truck bodies & attachments including cutting, shaping, and assembling panels of various materials
• Performing plastic repairs, panel, and paint repairs
• Following safety guidelines and procedures
• Using hand and air tools
• Assembling automotive parts within scheduled timeframes
• Maintaining general housekeeping and safety standards

Trades Assistants Experience required:

• Previous experience in fabrication, assembly, and related duties
• Mechanical assembly experience
• Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools
• A solid understanding of quality control, safe work practices, manual handling, and workplace procedures
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• High attention to detail
• Ability to follow instructions
• Applicants with previous experience in chassis/construction, fabrication, coach and bodybuilding, and sheet metal work will be highly advantageous

Hourly Rates:

• Boilermakers:  $54.94
• Trades Assistants: $49.45
