About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mobile Maintenance Boilermaker with current mining or heavy equipment maintenance experience to join our team.

This role will focus on the repair, maintenance and fabrication of underground and surface mobile mining equipment, including loaders, underground trucks, jumbos, drill rigs, light vehicles, service vehicles and associated workshop equipment while complying with all Statutory requirements and Company Safety, Health and Environmental standards and procedures.

This position is offered on 7 days on 7 days off, dayshift only roster.

Core responsibilities

  • Carry out boilermaking, welding and fabrication repairs on underground and surface mobile mining equipment.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance to loader buckets, truck trays, guards, handrails, brackets, frames, chassis components and general mobile equipment.
  • Undertake crack repairs, wear plate replacement, bucket and tray repairs, gouging, cutting, welding, grinding and dressing of repaired components.
  • Use of oxy/acetylene, MIG, TIG, Air arc gouging, propane etc.
  • Liaise with mobile maintenance supervisors, planners and diesel fitters to prioritise planned repairs and breakdown work to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Receive, review and prioritise daily work orders in consultation with supervisors.
  • Work safely on heavy vehicle fuel tanks, hydraulic tanks, hydraulic systems and around electrical systems and components.
  • Use of minor equipment and hand tools as required.
  • All specific welding and fabrication maintenance tasks as outlined in relevant JSA’s, site Procedures and best practice documentation.
  • Previous experience repairing mobile mining equipment, including buckets, trays and structural components, will be highly regarded.

About you

You will have a certificate III in engineering and fabrication trade qualification as Boilermaker/Welder, a proven track record of a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail. Previous experience working in a mechanical maintenance mining environment on heavy mobile equipment, including buckets, trays, wear plates, crack repairs and structural repairs will be highly regarded.

You must be a safety orientated and reliable team player with aptitude and enthusiasm for multi skilling. You will have highly developed problem-solving skills which enable you to carry out unsupervised fabrication, installation, repairs and fault finding of equipment on the surface as well as underground.
