The Opportunity

The Batch Plant Operator plays a crucial role in the building and construction industry by overseeing the production of concrete and other materials at our Brisbane facility. This permanent, full-time position is essential for ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our projects and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Desired skills & experience:

• Previous experience operating a mobile concrete batching plant, preferably in a mining, civil or remote-project environment.
• Demonstrated experience batching concrete to specified mix designs, including controlling cement, aggregate, sand and water quantities.
• Ability to operate the plant’s electronic/automated batching controls, monitor weights and ensure the correct batching sequence.
• Ability to complete pre-start inspections, identify defects and report/isolate unsafe equipment.
• Understanding of plant isolation/lock-out and stored-energy hazards, particularly before clearing blockages, removing guards or undertaking maintenance.
• Experience with routine plant cleaning, housekeeping and basic operator maintenance.
• Understanding of cement and silica/dust hazards and correct use of respiratory, eye and hearing protection.
• Ability to work safely around loaders, agitator trucks, conveyors, hoppers and other mobile plant.
• Ability to communicate effectively by two-way radio/positive communication during loading and batching operations.
• Ability to work independently in a remote-site environment and maintain accurate batching/production records.
• Current Australian driver licence and ability to meet the project’s site-entry/medical requirements.
• Front-end loader competency/ticket and demonstrated loader experience.
• Experience loading aggregate hoppers and managing aggregate stockpiles.
• Experience with agitator trucks and coordinating concrete deliveries.
• Experience working with bulk cement/ISO or bulka-bag systems.
• Mechanical aptitude and capability to identify problems with conveyors, load cells, pneumatic systems, cement delivery systems and hydraulics.
• Experience performing or assisting with plant calibration and checking batch accuracy.
• Mining/civil construction experience, particularly remote operations.
