Apprentice Diesel Mechanic

About the Role:

We are seeking an Apprentice Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Rockhampton. In this role, you will service, diagnose and repair our fleet of trucks, trailers and equipment, supported by qualified mechanics. You will carry out maintenance, fault finding and repairs, contributing directly to keeping the fleet safe, compliant and operational.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct mechanical inspections, diagnostics and fault finding on heavy vehicles and equipment
• Service and maintain fleet including trucks, trailers, dollies and light vehicles in line with workshop procedures
• Work with experienced mechanics to identify faults and carry out repairs on brakes, suspension, steering and engine components
• Assist with fabrication and body repairs, including welding and grinding on trailers and chassis
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimise downtime
• Assist with ordering and replacing parts in line with quality standards and manufacturer specifications

Skills and Experience: 

• Experience in the automotive industry (desirable)
• Currently undertaking, or willing to undertake, an apprenticeship in Automotive Heavy Vehicle Technology
• Full Australian working rights
• Strong interest in mechanical work with good problem-solving skills
• Ability to think critically to diagnose mechanical issues
• High attention to detail with a thorough approach to inspections and repairs
