Westgold Resources is seeking an experienced Ventilation & Projects Engineer to support our underground operations and play a key role in delivering safe, efficient mining outcomes across our portfolio.

This full‑time permanent position is based at Westgold’s Head Office, with occasional site travel required.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe and optimal design, monitoring and management of ventilation systems across our underground mining operations. You’ll also lead and support underground projects, ensuring compliance with WA mining legislation, company standards, and best‑practice engineering principles.

You’ll work closely with Technical Services, Alternate/Underground Managers, contractors and other key stakeholders to deliver integrated, efficient, and safe mine planning solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor and optimise primary and secondary ventilation systems.
  • Complete ventilation modelling and simulations (including Ventsim).
  • Deliver timely ventilation plans for development, production and project activities.
  • Conduct ventilation monitoring, inspections, audits and statutory reporting.
  • Manage and support underground projects, including booster fan chambers, dewatering upgrades and compressed air system improvements.
  • Maintain and audit escapeway systems, designs and documentation.
  • Provide technical input into strategic, business and monthly planning.
  • Mentor and coach site personnel in ventilation systems and underground project practices.
  • Identify and manage risks to ensure safe achievement of operational targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across ventilation and project processes.

About You

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience managing major underground ventilation projects.
  • Proficiency in Ventsim or similar ventilation modelling tools.
  • Strong understanding of WA Mines Regulations.
  • Effective communication, stakeholder engagement and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Current C‑Class Driver’s Licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience implementing strategic improvements across operations.
  • First Aid Certificate.
