NEPEAN Longwall is a leading provider of specialised underground mining equipment to the Australian coal industry. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and reliable Trade Assistant to join our team based in Paget, Mackay QLD. 

About the Role

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the Trade Assistant plays a key role in supporting tradespeople across multiple departments including Electrical, Mechanical, Fabrication, and Gearbox. You will assist with maintenance, repairs, and general workshop duties to ensure the efficient operation of the Longwall facility. This role offers a compressed 4-day work week to allow for work life balance!

Key Responsibilities

• Assist tradespeople with allocated tasks across various departments
• Perform general labouring, including manual handling of materials (up to 15kg)
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and rigging equipment (where licensed)
• Carry out general duties including steam/high-pressure water cleaning and painting
• Maintain workshop cleanliness and general facility upkeep
• Handle materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently
• Able to work in a team environment and the ability to work autonomously
• Work in accordance with Safe Work Instructions and Operating Procedures
• Maintain a strong commitment to WH&S and environmental standards
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines

About You

• Previous experience as a Trade Assistant or General Labourer
• Experience operating a forklift (highly regarded)
• Current Driver’s Licence (essential)
• High-Risk Forklift Licence and/or Riggers Ticket (advantageous)
• Good English communication skills 
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work in a team environment
• Good communication skills and attention to detail
• Reliable, adaptable, and safety-focused
• Committed to maintaining a clean and organised workspace
