At St John of God Midland Public Hospital we provide a comprehensive range of services including emergency medicine, critical care, day chemotherapy, paediatric care, aged and stroke care, maternity and general surgery.

Our 307-bed public hospital is operated under a public-private partnership between the State Government and St John of God Health Care.

Our Services include wide range of public health care services for people in Midland and surrounding communities. Our services include 24-hour emergency care, public maternity care, Aboriginal pregnancy and maternity support through Moort Boojari Mia, acute mental health treatment and medical and surgical care.

About the role

We are seeking a Storeperson to join our team based at Midland Public Hospital in a permanent full-time capacity. This position is a fast-paced role within a warehouse environment which involves a range of physical tasks and activities including pushing trolleys laden with goods for stock distribution as well as utilising supply-related computer systems.

As a Storeperson, you will be responsible for maintaining hospital imprest stock levels by scanning to par levels, receiving deliveries from the warehouse and external suppliers, and accurately restocking items within their designated ward or department locations. This role also includes receiving and distributing direct-to-site deliveries in a timely and efficient manner.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect and accurately process incoming stock, equipment and related documentation, ensuring all goods are verified and discrepancies are reported promptly.

  • Assist with unloading, storage, labelling and distribution of stock, including coordinating supplier returns and delivery documentation.

  • Replenish imprest stock and fulfil stock requests through accurate picking, packing, issuing and recording of inventory transactions.

  • Deliver excellent customer service by responding to enquiries, supporting caregivers and ensuring urgent stock requirements are addressed promptly.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy through stock rotation, stocktakes, data entry and monitoring of stock discrepancies and usage trends.

  • Ensure warehouse, storerooms and receiving areas are maintained in a clean, safe and organised condition in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.

 Physical Activities /Work Environment:

  • Push a trolley laden with goods to deliver/distribute stock

  • Use a manual pallet trolley to move pallets

  • Gown up for sterile areas as directed

  • Lift and move furniture and equipment

  • Climb a ladder to store and retrieve materials

  • Drive, load and unload delivery van

Your skills and experience

The ideal candidate will demonstrate high-level verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. They will be a strong team player, able to take direction and contribute to achieving shared goals. A proven ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and maintain high performance within tight timeframes is essential.

Candidates must possess basic mathematical and computer skills, with a keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and stock management. An understanding of Occupational Health and Safety procedures, along with the physical capability to carry out the duties of the role, is required. A current driver’s licence is essential.

  • Salary: $66,243 to $69,253, plus 12% superannuation

  • Permanent full-time position, working 76 hours per fortnight
